SPORK Butterfly Math & Science - C
Students will add and subtract numbers with up to 4 digits vertically. They will practice skip-counting and apply that to multiply one-digit numbers. They will memorize the multiplication table for one-digit numbers. They will apply addition, subtraction, and multiplication to solve word problems and identify the solving strategy based on keywords. They will determine the complement of a fraction and compare fractions with the same numerators or denominators. They will add and subtract fractions with the same denominator. They will master reading the clock and using the terms “quarter past”, “half past”, and “quarter to” to express time. They will add or subtract a given number of minutes to or from the given time. They will measure the length both in centimeters and inches.
In science, they will understand the similarities and differences between animals, plants, and fungi. They will identify the classes of animals (mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates). They will understand how plants reproduce. They will identify basic types of energy and understand that energy transforms from one form to another.
